January summary what a month

The hobby was strong, 

I had feared January would be a no-hobby month, but it ended up as a good month, with output I feel proud of as I optimized the little time available

I took some of the fantasy warriors I have in my WIP box and I was wrong. They are of similar scale.

What about gaming you'd say?
That's the black spot. I've started RPGing with a target of twice a month, and been busy for an internal sales kickoff that took a lot of time before and during. Now, it's gone and Chinese New Year is around the corner.
Well, gaming would be a February thing then!

2017 planning: What is a Marius - Quantifying painted models

This year, I have decided to get stuff painted. Surely I did paint stuff last year, but I kind of lost track toward year end with excuses like: Too busy, too tired, can't find the miniatures.

I will use scientific method to quantify the amount of stuff painted, acquired or given away.

Introducing the MARIUS.

What does it mean: Multiple APO Revolutionary Interregolistic Unit for Splashing Paint

In plain English: it is a measure unit of a model.
for instance:
1 MARIUS = 1x 15mm infantry

The equivalence with other scale and model type is:
15 mm infantry: 1 MARIUS
15mm infantry: 1 MARIUS
20mm infantry: 2 MARIUS
28mm infantry: 3 MARIUS
20mm horse:    2 MARIUS
28mm horse:    3 MARIUS

Combining: 1x 28mm cavalry is:
    3+3= 6 MARIUS

28mm Vehicle: 15 MARIUS (no official MARIUS value, I have arbitrarily set the value)
20mm Vehicle: 10 MARIUS (no official MARIUS value, I have arbitrarily set the value)
    etc.

APO aims to transform hobby blog from virtual display to a self motivator with a timeline.

How does it work.
To set an APO, I just need to announce in an article: WHAT I will paint, WHEN I start and WHEN I will finish, and success criteria (vernished, use of 3 colors+, based, ...).
APO may have milestone to show progress and estimate if APO will be successful... or not.
On the DDay, the APOlogist show the status, with photo at the starting date and photo at finish.

So my objective for 2017:
Buying no more than 50 MARIUS
Painting 300 MARIUS (or 100 28mm miniatures)

Back to life - End of Summer (and Morikun Challenge)

I had few games in Summer (Bolt Action and Incursion), and no solo games.

I had time to finish part of my ambitions for the Morikun Challenge, and here is my take. Morikun comes back from vacations.

Taking up the Morikun Challenge - My theme

Kaiu Fugu, the crazy craftman of the Crab clan is back from retirement, after 13 years. He had been my unforgettable L5R character.

A place to visit and that cleverly set a googletranslate gadget to make it English friendly has launched a massive Give Away program, with more than 51 goodies, with major indy companies.


I have decided to join and use new techniques to do it.
I have also set a theme that I finally detailed it last night. I am planning the following:

Morikun, aboard his car has drove over a pair of hitchhikers  Geu and Weu (or Gil War and Will Hammer) and is about to achieve the survivor.

The hitchhikers are from the Games Workshop set of Sauron/Elendil, failcast. (got them for 10 euro at the FLGS).

There will be a Geisha, just because.

 Still not decided on the bodyguard. There are 3 versions: Sumo, Japanese henchmen or Orc Samourai (from old Confrontation)

Few things have been painted, including (and missing from the update), 11 Necromunda minis with their options and 6 dogs for the incoming scenarios.

On the acquisition side, I got a box of Gurkhas (Bolt Action) and bought the Dad's Army box (Bolt Action) for additional characters in my campaign.

November wrap-up

IS November a very short month, or did I spend that month working only?
Well, seems the later. I had traveling and business dinners all over the month, making me busier than I'd wish.

I played few games, with some going well, other not. I tried ATZ-Fallout but it was a miss. I updated the rules to play with D10 and included perks and skills. We played at 3 and I think the initiation scenario was not that great. I will find something else.

So, I painted few minis, but still a good output. I have recently acquired new minis to include into my ATZ-FFO '44, as I found something great to use for the Nemesis. So next scenario will be German, focus on Von Evil. Will he survive? Additional, that guy is a bastard, so don't expect mercy from him.

July update - with delay

With few days/evenings of real painting it was difficult to paint. Well I did complete some painting but gaming went dry.

I played boardgames and also followed the Incursion Kickstarter (here) and delighted to see it going through. This will give me motivations on a US force with many many APEs.

Miniature, terrain update May

Good first half of May, with tons of time for hobby.
Little update on the painting front. Resistants and Partisans are increasing in numbers. I made also more rifles as I almost ran out last time.
In addition, I finally painted my APE for my Secret of the Third Reich French units and got 2 new buildings to increase the variety of my ATZ-FFO terrain.
