Viridian inbound - Painting slowly yes, but painting.

No relationship with people from the 3rd Rai'ch

10 years ago.... I stumbled into an amazing sale from Ludikbazar. I was in Hong Kong at that time, but my mojo was coming back.
I was young and ambitious, I bought a gigantic quantity of miniature, some of them out of print since then.
Now, I have finally painted the models that brought me back from hobby abyss. The Metropolis/Urban War Viridians.
Hopefully that kickstart my gaming mojo again.

Viridian army supported by 2 mechs from Warpath Kickstarter. All good models

This is my inspiration for the army. A French comic call Aquablue. There was a planet assault by the Foreign Legion.

Greatcoat Viridians, version 2
Colonial marines, Viridian style. The leader in the middle, I can swear it's an old mutant chronicle model, from Prince August.
Viridian colonial marines and unknown guy

More colonial marines. I have few of them left, but they are not the best looking Viridians to be honest.

The more, the merrier. Don't worry, they are the last ones.

Special force viridian sergeant and Lt. Johnny G. Johnny has a thermos of coffee/brandy, so he can celebrate victory right away

sorry girls, Johnny's bottom is protected by grenades.
Viridian Mortar.

Viridians have a nice box set of snipers. I thought they were too much. Even within the actual rules, they are deadly. I have one. He is more an urban sniper than a sniper who believes he is a tree.
The best looking Viridian I have, the spec forces.
Spec force viridians
They mean business. The middle model is originally from the mortar. However he fits better within the spec forces.

Viridians are here to pacify. If there are bow-and-arrow giant blue smurf, even better.
"Now, bring me some navi for shooting training"

On the other side of the table, I painted some miniatures used for our "apero" game.
Here are some fighters we used a while ago for space fighter race.
11 fighters. It was supposed to be 12, but I can't find the 12th one.
I have always been a secret lover of battletech, and here is my way to feed my secret passion (2 boxes of late 80, early 90's plastic miniatures, for US$10 total)

And with the 2 tanks I bought previously to bet some armor for diversity.

Painting update and a parcel received

It has been a long time, when the Atlantes rules the world that I haven't posted a thing game-related.

Few updates, I have been painting and basing the whole time.

A set of soldiers to complete my growing fantasy warbands:

A new group of mercenaries, with a special shield

A new lord Paladin to kill the beast
More henchmen for the Black Shield company

Undead, because we always need some bones to flesh it out

My Bolt Action Partisan army. 170+ members of the resistance ready to take the Kraut out

The second half, with some Kraut. When I want to play with actual armored vehicles.
Misc. stuff
2 new additions, micro tanks for some battletech-like game

Arbitrator. I had them for a long time, only now getting into painting them

A group of space wolves. I applied my wash technic, I like the results

And the parcel received from Morikun, I will need to learn the spray technique now.

The address was self-explanatory
The content, a nice pic and the actual stuff.

The blog is not dead, just time is short

So long since the last post... And so little hobby has been achieved in between.

I will soon post, once finished, the miniatures I have been painting. There has been time for painting, but a lot less for playing, beside the Game of Life and some Citadelles games.

Beside work, I spent a lot of time on World of Tank (aka WoT). Mostly for research (finally a job where playing video game is a job duty). As any online game, it can bring frustration and epic moment. The key part in WoT is that it kind of reflect tank battle. Communication with other tanks is limited, which feels ww2 like. You have to trust your teammate to do the right things.

More soon, about minis!

January summary what a month

The hobby was strong,

I had feared January would be a no-hobby month, but it ended up as a good month, with output I feel proud of as I optimized the little time available

I finished all the tiles of the dungeon kickstarters - Finally!

Hospital type tiles
For the above tiles, I painted white, then used dark wash to paint some tiles and make letters and then painted white again. The result pleased me, the letters were still visible but not too much. I added blood stains to

When I received my mantic pledge, I felt the troopers to be a little small.
cutting, gluing, ordering. Yes, seems a kickstarter's just arrived.
I took some of the fantasy warriors I have in my WIP box and I was wrong. They are of similar scale.

Comparing Mantic GCPS size compared to 28mm fantasy
What about gaming you'd say?
That's the black spot. I've started RPGing with a target of twice a month, and been busy for an internal sales kickoff that took a lot of time before and during. Now, it's gone and Chinese New Year is around the corner.
Well, gaming would be a February thing then!

First 2017 fantasy miniatures painted

Reinforcement has arrived

New Year, great painting mojo.
So I finally sat down, watching House of Cards and paint at the same time. The first victims to the paintbrush were fantasy miniatures to finish some of the teams fighting in Montiberg.

I finally finished the Blue Chief, opening rooms for him to appear. A long overdue.

Blue Chief
A priest / magic adept

And tons of henchmen.
The Raven Company

Second from the left, leader of the Raven Company, Captain Crow. Captain Crow carries a long sword and like giving orders.

4 henchmen. (left to right) First one is a tough soldier, veteran of many campaigns. He carries a dreadful spear and a mighty armor. Next is a barbarian who enjoyed modern armor. He carries a warhammer. Further right is a skilled two-hand sword fighter. A tricky weapon to use. Finally a regular mercenary from the Raven Company.

The Black Shield company is a company of war veterans. Well equipped and organized, depending which side you are they are dangerous foes and great allies.

That's 22x3 = 66 MARIUS :-)
