Batranoban is the oldest human civilization on Tanaephis, having built cities and complex societies when other humans were mere barbarian living in mud hut. Batranoban are proud of their blood and their Empire.

When the Derigion Empire rose centuries ago, Batranoban were in the midst of a civil war and they were easily conquered. During this period the Batranoban expanded their influence in trading and finance, using the Derigion’s Empire for their own benefit. When the Derigion Empire started to decline and needed money to wage war, Batranoban bought their independence.

Since then, Batranoban are expanding South and East by war or diplomacy.

Batranoban is controlled by the Great Houses. Each Great House has its own army, organization, followers and goals. The 60 richest Houses participate in the election of the Batranoban Council of 13 elders every 5 years. Each season, the Council will meet to decide the fate of the Empire. It happens that when a war is lost or special event shake the Batranoban society, a new election is hold, effectively putting the Empire at a pause.

The Batranoban army is composed of regiments coming from the ranks of the Houses’ private armies.

Race: Derigion
National Morale: 1
Provinces: 7
War Rating: +1
Battle Tactics:A
Alignment: -2
Tech: +1
Mana: +1
Government type: Imperial
Motivation: Colonization

Description:

Living in the past, the Derigion’s Empire is the shadow of its former glory. For a thousand years, the Empire was covering Tanaephis as a whole, taking tributes from remote Thunk and Gadhar tribes, living in riches. Centered in Pole, a remnant of the Elf capitol, it retained it power as a trade, art and financial center.

Geographically, the Derigion’s Empire is now limited to Pole and the immediate surroundings. The Derigion’s Emperor is willing to win back the lost territories but hardship is not really what Derigion’s society and nobility want. With the huge wealth it still has, Pole tend to pay peace and buy time.
Its military is powerful but numerically limited and more often than not, mercenaries are fighting Derigion’s wars.

Race: Gadhar
National Morale: 1
Provinces: 7
War Rating:-1
Battle Tactics: C

Gadhar tribes usually lives on their own, breeding local animals and do not farm. From times to times, tribes will unite and try to expand territory and this is usually short term colonization effort rather than grand conquest scheme. In their belief, a defeated enemy will move away and will not try to confront the victor.

Race: Piorad
National Morale: 4
Provinces: 6
War Rating: +1
Battle Tactics:A
Alignment: -2
Tech: -1
Mana: -1
Government type: Tribal
Motivation: Conquest

Description:

Piorad is a strange society. It seems they all came one day by boat, reaching the Northern shore of Tanaephis. Where they come from and why they suddenly migrated is unknown. They first raided villages and cities with their boats and used a brutal carnivorous horse, the Chagar. Their strength was their mobility. Nobody was safe.

Then Piorad’s leaders became Weapon bearer and because of the Weapon fear of water (as the Weapon does not want to be lost under the sea with no bearer for eternity), they burned their boat, settled in the far North and since then, try to conquer Tanaephis.

The prime objective of the Piorad is wealth and the death of their enemies. They never took Pole and they take every opportunity to take it.

Piorad are anarchic and violent. Their society is driven by brutal force. When they go to war, this is with an alliance of villages under one strong leader. If pillaging or victory is not achieve, they would withdraw. Nevertheless, the most fear factor is that Piorad are not stop by Winter season and may attack in the middle of a snowstorm.

Race: Sekeker
National Morale: 1
Provinces: 3
War Rating: +0
Special: Hate ALL Nations
Battle Tactics: B

Alignment: -1
Tech: -1
Mana: 1
Government type: Tribal
Motivation: Loot

Description:

Small tribes of women only raiding villages for babies. This is how Vanicius the scribe described them when Sekeker raised from the central plains.

Sekeker are a new society. It was born from the lack of liberty women have in most of Tanaephis societies. Legends said that one day a huge convoy of women slaves and a harem was on its way to Pole. The trader and his slavers was a cruel man. He was also a Weapon’s bearer. One evening, as he was torturing a young women recently captured, his Weapon slipped from the belt and fell into the girl’s hand. The only male witness (left alive for him to tell the tale) said that he was sure the Weapon did it in purpose. Nevertheless, the girl killed her tormentor, inspired a revolt among the slaves and killed all male in the convoy but one. She became the first leader of the Sekeker.

The Sekeker society rejects man. They raid villages, trade convoys and even cities, killing all male, taking all female babies and young girls. For the women, if they embrace the Sekeker’s way of the life, they are left alive, if not, they are often killed.

The way Sekeker are renewing and expanding their territory explains why they are so few and why they use lobotomized men as meat shield to increase their numbers.

Sekeker avoid unbalanced battle as much as possible.

Race: Thunk
National Morale: 3
Provinces: 6
War Rating: +0
Special: Hate Piorad
Battle Tactics: C
Alignment: 1
Tech: +0
Mana: +0
Government type: Tribal
Motivation: Loot

Description:

Living in the North, the Thunk were the first to meet and die when the Piorad landed. Since then, they live under the constant pressure of the Piorad raiders and the Vorozion expansion.

They live in villages or as nomads, riding ponies. They use their wits and range weapons to weaken enemies before fighting into melee. They also ambushed enemies fool enough to get deep into Thunk territories.

======================
Race: Vorozion
National Morale: 3
Provinces: 12
War Rating:-1
Battle Tactics: A
Alignment: 1
Tech: 2
Mana: -2
Government type: Monarchy
Motivation: Conquest

Description:

When the Derigion’s Empire was at its apogee, it was prone to personal ambition of distant governors and captains.

The Vorozion rebellion would have been crushed like all rebellion before if it did not happen during the Piorad landing. The Piorad were such a threat to Pole that the Derigion’s Empire decided to deal with the Vorozion later.

They never did. Since then, the Vorozion kept expanding until they became the biggest Empire on Tanaephis. Its armies are large and powerful, unmatched in battle. The main complexity is the bureaucratic government that slow and delay most of the offensive. Nevertheless, the Vorozion’s Empire is slowly but steadily expanding.

  2. Soon the first season. I have played Spring and Summer and it was very good. The new melee rule made it very edgy in some battle.
